Fellows Program
A Core Social Change Program
The Institute has established its Fellows and Senior Fellows Program to advance the promotion and use of the Polarities of Democracy as an approach for social or environmental projects that help to build healthy, sustainable, and just communities. The Institute’s primary social change efforts are initiated and led by our Institute Fellows and Senior Fellows through strategic alliances. The Institute’s current specific social change efforts where our Fellows and Senior Fellows are pursuing application of the Polarities of Democracy include:
- The Institute’s Anti-Racism Initiative, being carried out through a collaborative strategic alliance with the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.
- Individual initiatives to strengthen community-police relations in local US communities.
- Initiatives with local communities in England to engage in addressing environmental issues associated with the UN Sustainability Development Goals.
- Initiatives in Bulgaria to support democratic frameworks.
- Initiatives to strengthen the civic education programs of high schools within the public school system of local US communities.
- The Institute’s preparation of PhD scholar-practitioners to serve as the next generation of Institute Fellows steeped in the Polarities of Democracy approach, being carried out through a collaborative strategic alliance with Walden University.
The Institute Social Change Fellowship Program offers each cohort of fellows a two-year educational, research, and social change experience. Fellows are provided in-depth training and resources in polarity thinking and assessment approaches and a deep exploration in the Polarities of Democracy theory’s application in real world settings to achieve social change, policy goals, and democratic reforms that improve lives.
